Gang sheet software

Gang sheet software that covers the whole job

Most shops end up with three or four disconnected tools: something customers design in, something that nests the sheet, something that makes the print file, and a spreadsheet holding it together. Buildaur is one system that does all four, on your own storefront.

What gang sheet software actually has to do

A gang sheet order is not one task. It is a chain, and a break anywhere in it costs you either a reprint or an hour of your own time. When you are comparing gang sheet software, it is worth being specific about which links in that chain a tool actually covers.

The full chain looks like this:

  • Design. the customer needs somewhere to upload artwork, size it, and see what they are buying before they pay.
  • Pricing. the sheet has to be priced as it is built, by area or by size, so the number the customer sees is the number you can afford to print.
  • Nesting. artwork has to be packed into the sheet efficiently, because the film you waste is margin you have already paid for.
  • File generation. the layout has to become a real print file at the right resolution, with transparency intact and named so production can find it.
  • The queue. the paid order and its file have to arrive somewhere your team can actually work from.

The gap that catches most shops is between step four and step five. Plenty of tools will let a customer build a pretty layout. Far fewer hand you a file you can send to production without opening it first.

Software you host, software you rent, and software you build

There are three broad ways shops solve this, and they fail in different ways.

Doing it by hand in design software is where almost everyone starts. It works at low volume and stops working the moment you are nesting sheets at night instead of printing them. The cost is real but it hides inside your own hours, so it is easy to underestimate.

Building your own is tempting if you already have a developer. The builder itself is the easy part. The parts that take the time are the ones nobody scopes: resolution validation, transparency handling, font licensing, file naming, retries when a render fails, and every browser quirk a customer will find for you.

Renting it as a service is the middle path, and the thing to check is what you are actually renting. Some tools are a design widget and stop there. What you want is the whole chain, including the file at the end of it.

Watch how the software is priced

Gang sheet software is commonly priced one of two ways, and the difference compounds.

A percentage of each sale scales with your success, which sounds fair and is not. The work the software does on a large order is the same work it does on a small one, so a percentage means your best months are the months you pay the most for no extra service.

A flat monthly fee is predictable. You can put it in your costing, it does not change when you have a good quarter, and the savings from growth stay with you. Buildaur is priced flat, with no cut of your sales.

Run the arithmetic on your own numbers before you commit either way. Take last month of gang sheet revenue and apply the percentage. For most shops doing steady volume, that figure is larger than a flat subscription, and it grows every month you do well.

What you get with Buildaur

Buildaur runs the whole chain under your own branding, on your own storefront, and hands production a file it can trust.

  • A real builder. text with your own fonts, names and numbers for team work, a customer design library, background removal, AI upscale and a live resolution reading on every image.
  • Automatic nesting. artwork is packed into your sheet sizes automatically, with a manual mode for customers who want to place things themselves.
  • Press-ready files. transparent PNGs at the correct resolution, sized to your sheet and named for production, validated before they reach your queue.
  • Your checkout. customers pay in your own store with your existing payment setup. Buildaur does not take over the money.
  • One queue. orders from your storefront and from the marketplaces you sell on land in the same place, with their files attached.

Common questions

Is gang sheet software different from a gang sheet builder?

In normal use the terms overlap. "Builder" usually points at the part the customer touches, the canvas where artwork gets placed. "Software" usually means the whole system around it, including nesting, file generation, order handling and the integrations with your store. Buildaur is the second one: the builder is a part of it, not all of it.

Do I need separate software for UV DTF?

No, but you do need it kept separate inside the software. UV DTF and DTF have different sheet sizes and different pricing per square inch, so they run as separate products in Buildaur with their own size and price tables. That stops a sticker sheet being sold at textile transfer pricing by accident.

Can it handle the file side if I already have a storefront I like?

Yes. That is the common case. You keep your store, your theme and your checkout, and the builder is linked from your product pages. See how that works for your platform on the pages for Shopify, WooCommerce and Squarespace.

What happens when a customer uploads a low-resolution image?

The builder shows the effective print resolution live on each placed image, recalculated as the customer resizes it, and warns before the sheet is generated if it is too low to print well. The customer can run an AI upscale in the builder instead of you finding out at production time.
